Understanding Your Role

Your role in Study Hub determines what features you can access and what actions you can perform. This guide provides an overview of how roles work.

How Roles Work

  • Roles are assigned by organization administrators
  • You can have multiple roles
  • Some features require specific roles to access
  • Roles control both navigation options and available actions

Role Categories

Standard Roles (Everyone)

All authenticated users who belong to an organization can:

  • Access the Inbox to view mentions and follow-ups
  • View studies in All Studies
  • Edit their Profile
  • Work with studies they're assigned to

Administrative Roles

Organization Admin (org_admin)

  • Full access to organization settings
  • Manage members, teams, and investigators
  • Configure workflows and field templates
  • Approve or decline membership requests

Organization Viewer (org_viewer)

  • View organization settings and configuration
  • Cannot make changes to organization settings

Metrics Access

Metrics Viewer (metrics_viewer)

  • Access to the Metrics dashboard
  • View study timelines and analytics

Team Admin (team_admin)

  • Access to Metrics
  • Manage team-related settings

Study Admin (study_admin)

  • Access to Metrics
  • Administrative control over studies

Study-Level Roles

These roles apply to individual studies:

Project Admin (project_admin)

  • Full control over specific studies
  • Can edit all study details

Project Collaborator (project_collaborator)

  • Can collaborate on assigned studies
  • May have limited editing capabilities

Ancillary Team Collaborator (ancillary_team_collaborator)

  • Support role for specific studies
  • Limited access based on assignment

Based on your roles, the sidebar will show different navigation options:

Checking Your Roles

To see what roles you have:

  1. Go to your Profile page (click your avatar in the sidebar)
  2. Your assigned roles are displayed in your profile information

Need Different Access?

If you need access to features you can't currently see:

  1. Contact your organization administrator
  2. Explain what you need to do
  3. They can adjust your roles as appropriate
